Reproducing Uniqueness
And so today there are no attachments to private lives through the media everyone is exposed, throughout television and franchised culture, all parts of the world are synchronized, everyone is an open book, the wedding match makers the Clown would say are discretely Reproducing Uniqueness. Aesthetics was compromised to secure a common taste, ugly cars are common and popular because designers accommodate the desires and needs of many into one model, what comes out is generally an insect looking like thing that is so heavily crossed breaded that almost everyone could find something to like in it but no decent person could completely like the product of a compromise.
A new style comes out and imitators quickly arise and very soon everyone looks the same and so someone comes out with something else that is different from the sameness and this too is expeditiously duplicated, thus its success, the cause for its reproduction also expedites its extinction. And its uniqueness has to be brought to question because if it was so original would it have such mass appeal? Does originality exist? No, indeed not, and a thousand times not, originality is killed by mass appeal! In fact originality is aborted by mass appeal because the masses do not like things that have not been pre-approved by the lot.
Marketing geniuses understand this better than anyone their goal is to make us feel that our purchased possessions are unique and that they make statements about our individuality but their success, and hence their mass production, negates the message. A message that is distributed by advertising that serves also as our primary means of information, for today there is no difference between an advertisement and an information piece, what is educational and what is news is closely linked to what is marketable and conducive to unchecked consumerism, and economist should ask themselves can the economy expand for ever? And sociologist if the economy can expand for ever can the human condition maintain? Marketing of course is one of the most phenomenal institution of our time and it is not without some amusement that I have spent times failing to comfort friends with marketing degrees that could not find a job while still working on that original idea that would have mass appeal. There are at least two serious contradictions there.
Now to get a job or buy a house we have to tell all. No secrets! Society cured everyone with psychotherapy , medicine and lawyers and everything you say is confidential and only exposed to an impersonal. Never tell anything to anyone that matters but tell it to someone that could care less but charges gold and not emotions. But emotions or gold everyone pays and the clown was known to say: “Those that pay cash always pay less.”
Everyone is equal in the sense that everyone has to pay taxes, everyone has to permit the government access to their daily dealings but everyone is also the owner of the government in the democratic sense of the word. Opposition to the government had been abolished by creating the illusion that a bicameral system was independent of itself, meaning objective and self critical. Much was made about the internal divisions and this divisions were sure to justify the existence of the whole. The government became the number one consumer which is to say that the economy was centralized and through laws and tax policies the rest was manipulated so that the democratic peoples of the world were sort of fooling themselves into being both consumer and employer.
The revolution was in everyone’s interest so it wasn’t a revolution. Individuals were occasionally discovered but the common people were to confident to feel threaten by them, they would just laugh at them and think them crazy for not getting along. Getting along is the single most important thing and everyone is getting along just fine. The lyrics of songs or the contents of movies are voluntarily censored but it is not that this is censorship because everyone wants it this way. Books are no longer burnt because we practice prevention, that is we do not publish books that we would burn. The TV propaganda is not forced on anyone people just grew up with their TV’s on and never turn them off, even as they sleep, out of habit. Plenty of people get murdered all the time but this is considered not a fault of the society but rather a lack of socialization, that is if everyone was properly civilized there would be fewer murders. Mothers understand this and so it is now always more important for them to let their children be socialized into their respective groups. Of course there will always be crimes of passion, thought the highly skilled, disciplined and organized proletarian democratic people have long lost much passion and faith, and now reduce everything to material substance that can be measured with degrees, credit cards, and ease of use. Churches are evaluated for their ability to satisfy their congregations. Which is to say God is being forced to deliver customer satisfaction.
The future is large, large projects, large statues, large space stations, projects that exceed life expectancies ten fold. Individuality as much as it had been praised in the past could have never accomplished anything great but now society acted as one giant individual, no-one was important but everyone was important it was a detail part of the whole but not a whole by itself. The most naive of philosophers should have foreseen this coming to past. The success of anything has nothing to do with genius or originality it has more to do with discipline and repetition more and more of the same. powerful main frame computers were the product of raw proprietary, individuality, but utilizing the client server strategy, a strategy of shared effort and work smaller less potent but more flexible computers became more successful, their mass standards killed proprietary individualism. Democracy, inferior but more common, powerful, even penetrated astronomy where many small telescopes synchronized together to make of large ones merely a twinkle.
The evidence of the perfection of capitalism, that is the reaching of the capitalistic ideals such as markets controlled by a bunch of invisible hands on the take, were evident everywhere the revolutionaries were right capitalism left to itself would reach an dialectical appotastasis and not be able to go around for a second round.
In a global economy things begun to look more and more the same, product differentiation was nonexistent, capitalist had to learn to get paid their worth, free markets and human competitive nature reduced the price of all things to their actual as opposed to their perceived value, products were paid their worth, that is the cost of manufacturing more, which is to say goods were like labor only paid their basic sustenance. Paid what it would cost to replace them and improve them some. This was the critical balance of perfect symmetric capitalism and reaching it made capitalism obsolete and replaceable.
Replaceable in the sense that all things that acquire perfection become obsolete. This is precisely why aesthetics is such a useless thing, it is why when the combustion engine reached critical levels of efficiency and endurance it was replaced by the more primitive and experimental electric one. Always we aim for something more promising thought in its infancy, it is in our nature to seek things that require hope, hope is what we have to hold on to when things are not at their best, hope is quintessentially the product of hopelessness. When capitalism optimized itself it became something that could not be improved that is something void of hope, it became obsolete!
And there is hope but not for us! This is because we live in an imperfect world and as things reach perfection they cease to be useful here. This world, meaning humans, only understand works in progress, and more work, and perfect things require less and less effort which is to say they stop bothering us; and sense they don’t bother us we stop thinking about them and switch to something that does bother us and so the perfect thing disappears into oblivion, or perhaps into a perfect world but for sure not this one.
So the bearded fellow was right but for the wrong reason to mean that it wasn’t that capitalism created its opposite rather that capitalism ceased needing and feeding its contradiction, for it was no longer fighting external sources but was instead harmoniously complete within itself, void of the mimesis, the other, and as such autonomous and autonomous things are not of this world.
We live in a world of codependency, of parasitic relationships, we consume each-other, and capitalism having no interdependency ceased to be here, no apparent communist contradiction , self sustaining capitalism had to perished. Socialism is great for this world because of its codependency to the fifth degree, democracy is the best thing going here because democracy is anti-independence, anti-autonomy, anti-perfection, democracy values the most common the most average and the greatness accumulated by lots of averages, though they are non existent in a particular sense, or in an individual sense averages can be applied to democracy with incredible and incredulous accuracy! The Clown would say: “Average Accuracy Equals Intolerance!”
There you have it, averages are non-perishables, no-one is anyone but everyone is someone, perfection impossibly beat out by moderation, we all need someone some time, which is to say do not screw anyone too passionately! No-one can be satisfied but moderation and thus security becomes more important than satisfaction! Ultimately under socialism we depend on everyone under such egregiously stable conditions the chances of our becoming perfect, autonomous or opinionated are nil and so instead we guarantee each-others existence in this imperfect world, we save life by saving imperfection. Sorry if I was a bit repetitive but democracy is quintessential repetitive. And to summarize why let me just tell you that the difference between the third world and the first world clearly exemplifies the future.
The third world character builds a world of personality, a world in which a person gives meaning and has meaning, while the first world character builds a world that is external of the self and independent of individual effect, in the third world it is the “I” that rules, while in the first world it is the “we” that rules. If a third world man dies much dies with him because so much depended on him, in the first world when a man dies the system, insurance and therapist pick up where he left off. The first world lacks religion for they plan for a world without themselves in it, while the third world believes that the self must remain if anything is to have meaning, that’s religion. It is the first world that is of tomorrow, for anything dependent on originality and individuality is by nature small and perishable. Systems rule beyond individuals, the first world is the place where family connections fail, where we are faithful to something larger than a person and not personal, in the first world we are at the mercy of systematic strategy, in it we are nothing if we do not forge alliances with total strangers, and in this regard the first world is greatest, in that it requires of us to go beyond incest, beyond private interest, it forces us to know and befriend that which is not like us.
In the end capitalism proved to be the true equalizing force because it reduced all human actions into a quantifiable gold formula that could be exchanged or cashed. Capitalism ensured that every human being’s worth was measured with great accuracy. The method of such a measure was independent of subjective conditions because all had to agree on its value, the value of capital could fluctuate but it had to remain credible and for it to be credible it had to give the impression of independence from corrupting political, individual or social forces. This made money the most objective thing in a universe that wasn’t objective. So money was, or is certainly not objective but it wasn’t particular to anyone or anything and all it did was determined the worth of a country or an individual and both entities had very little to do by themselves with the end result of the value. In short money was complex enough to depend on so many variables that no-one could concentrate on a single aspect of it to anchor its value.
Now if you reason this you have to come to the most fascinating conclusion: That money made us all equal because we were all measured by our ability to generate it through physical or mental productivity. Which is to say that money was us and we were money. And money it turns out is the least selfish thing in the universe and the formidably logical and laughable conclusion from that is that the Eagle, the capitalist victor, is thus the least selfish country in the world! And if the Eagle is the least selfish country in the world then its people are the most giving and least selfish people on the face of the planet. And don’t forget my dear friends that by my own account nothing is not selfish so capitalism is merely as altruistic as a selfish world gets, that is all.
Indeed in a society completely geared for unchecked consumerism every individual is constantly in a position of producing or spending, never at rest. The capitalist institution does not permit for individual time nor individual development everything is done for the good of the whole at the expense of many or few. A successful capitalist economy is one in which the worth of capital never rest comfortably in any one spot for too long, that is it belongs to no one and everyone must always try to keep it while only gaining favor by moving it.
The individual is conditioned to constantly outperform or recreate itself for the advancement of capital worth but the worth of capital is an external circumstance, it has no value inside of the self so the individual performs a thankless task, one of producing to increase productivity and worth while constantly reinventing the ignored self to meet new market demands. Now all of this is wonderful because since the self is ignored for external progress, the most selfish force in the universe is compromised, that is the self, to the point where real benefits accrue primarily in the social realm.
Can you think of anything more communist than this, of course not this is material history’s blood. These individuals are working for something and towards something that really has no interest of theirs in mind, except to protect them if not doing so can add cost to the social, and that my friends is a selfless act though a stupid one at that. This may be why it is so difficult to get everyone to try to be selfless, difficult because one has to be stupid to be so. But the democratization process is not about the protection of individuals it is about the protection of masses, for the good of the whole becomes really the benefit of none and in this wonderful almost Buddha process of self annihilation we are at last allowed to experience, to become a morbid one with all, because democratization is not about diversity, it is not about being open, it is about global universal sameness. A sameness that wrongly feels unique!
And this is necessary because if you cant make life last forever, which really is the ultimate, though it should not be, then comprise the experience. Speed can make everything happen at once, if I can not live forever to experience everything then every experience shall be compressed into a life time. If I can not be everywhere then I must be allowed to see everything through a virtual reality which I can only experience if I get so materially close to everyone that I am one with them and they are one with me. The self is dead, the being dead too but immortality is gained not by living forever but by experiencing the equivalent of forever.
And this is not out of line with physics for their is that eventual melt down of temperature that will inevitably close the gap between us and absolute zero, the inevitable eventual achievement of absolute zero dictates that the atoms will be less resistant, they will behave as one, they will lose their individuality.
Money is absolutely stored labor, to posses it is to posses another, and much of it is the possession of many others for money can only be produced by effort, by work, by blood and sweat. The billionaire is simply hungry for humanity. The billionaire wants to posses all of humanity. To give material things, to give money is to give someone a feeling and a portion of humanity which is precious, which is dear, to give material things is to give humanities labor and sweat, it is indeed an act of severe kindness.
This is why a diamond is so precious, precious because the labor nature performs to produce it is infinitesimal in value, the phenomena that nature must endure to produce the diamond is intense and it makes it precious. Sure technology can produce the diamond, in the laboratory perfect diamonds and even emeralds, which I prefer more, can be created, and if need be, for they are perfect, natural flaws can be added to increase their natural feel and value, but they will always be worth less because you cant reproduce the toil, the labor, the stress and time suffered by nature to produce the rare and the precious.
That is what the value of labor is, what each and everyone can produce with human labor is the most precious for life, because it is the giving of something personal produced by the most difficult product in the universe, life. And economist try as they may to reduce the cost of labor will always still find it the most expensive for it is the most precious in the universe. And in a universe where god and devil, matter and energy, time and space are just reversible wearable aspects of each other, so it is that labor equals money and money equals labor and to talk of one or the other is the same as talking of time and space.
The Eagle which was the leader of capitalism became the first real socialist country as would correctly be expected by communist theory, the estate, through taxation, leased and owned all fundamental property, mineral, and human rights. The most advanced form of capitalism had to be closer to the revolution and closer indeed it was, capitalist purity guaranteed their transition, everyone lost all sense of perspective as to what individuality was and they were able to feel individual like, while being the grand inquisitors of individuality. It was a biblical battle the Bear and the Eagle fought the ideological tragedy, and the feudal and depressed Bear converted to capitalism, (correcting its experimental feudal regression and diversion into individual control thus accepting the invisible hand’s movement of the chess pieces), and the Eagle to real communism both thinking they had won something yet both loosing to the material historical process; to economic freedom and economic destiny!
What more of this can I tell you, nothing except that I believe it all.
A new style comes out and imitators quickly arise and very soon everyone looks the same and so someone comes out with something else that is different from the sameness and this too is expeditiously duplicated, thus its success, the cause for its reproduction also expedites its extinction.
